Safeguarding

At One Trust we fully understand our obligation to keep vulnerable adults, young people under the age of 18 and children safe.

We recognise that as an organisation we may encounter incidents of:

  • Physical abuse
  • Domestic violence or abuse
  • Sexual abuse
  • Psychological or emotional abuse
  • Financial or material abuse
  • Modern slavery
  • Discriminatory abuse
  • Organisational or institutional abuse
  • Neglect or acts of omission
  • Self-neglect

Our approach to abuse is that it could happen at One Trust and that is why we have robust safeguarding policies and processes in place that are based upon:

Empowerment.
People being supported and encouraged to make their own decisions and informed consent.

Prevention.
It is better to act before harm occurs.

Proportionality.
The least intrusive response appropriate to the risk presented.

Protection.

Support and representation for those in greatest need.

Partnership.

Local solutions through services working with their communities.  Communities have a part to play in preventing, detecting and reporting negligence and abuse.

Accountability.

Accountability and transparency in safeguarding practice.

We want people using our services to feel safe and have confidence that if they (and the wider community) report safeguarding concerns to One Trust, they will be taken seriously and acted upon.
