Evening and weekend activities
We are developing a range of extended day, evening and weekend activities as a alternative to overnight respite provision. Overnight respite is a necessity for people living at home with their families. However, consultation with our service users and carer groups reveals that many would choose evening and weekend activities instead. The services will run from Church Lane, making use of the high-spec facilities and local amenities. The Church Lane site is fully accessible, catering for the broadest range of need. We will provide transport each way, meals, staffing, support with personal care and medication, and a range of interesting social activities and projects.
The evening service will run from 4pm to 9pm, the weekend service from 9am to 4pm.
We recognise that active parent carers have little time to attend to their own needs. Our respite alternatives will run in conjunction with our support services for carers. We will provide carers with a venue to engage in a range of fitness classes and massage whilst their son or daughter is supported to attend an evening social activity at the same site. This can provide a period of beneficial respite for both.
If you are a young person who would like to trial our service before you leave school or college, or require additional support during school holidays, our evening and weekend services can meet your needs.
If you are a family carer, we would love to hear your views and suggestions on how to further develop our respite options.
